Veteran safety Major Wright was one of eight players cut by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Saturday.

Wright, who played under Bucs head coach Lovie Smith in Chicago, signed a one-year deal with the team in April. He seemed like a lock for the third safety position, but ultimately lost out to Bradley McDougald.

The Bucs also parted ways with tight end Cameron Brate, running back Jeff Demps, quarterback Matt Kafka, linebacker Brandon Magee, defensive tackle Matthew Masifilo, wide receiver Solomon Patton, and defensive tackle Ronald Talley.
