Saints' kicker competition ends with both players cut

Geoff Burke / USA TODAY Sports

The New Orleans Saints need a placekicker after releasing both Shayne Graham and Derek Dimke ahead of the NFL's roster cutdown deadline Saturday.

The two players were expected to compete for a starting job, but apparently neither was impressive enough to earn the spot.

The Saints won't have too much trouble finding a new kicker, as several were cut as well (including 2013 starters Ryan Succop and Alex Henery).

It's also possible the Saints will bring back Graham or Dimke after adding a player to injured reserve in the coming days.
