Report: Suspension appeal for Browns' Gordon scheduled for Aug. 1
Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon will travel to New York City to meet with NFL officials on Aug. 1 regarding the appeal of his expected year-long suspension, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.
Gordon reportedly failed a drug test this spring, triggering a banishment from the league for a minimum period of one year. Such a lengthy term suggests Gordon is in the third stage of the NFL's substance abuse policy.
The league typically doesn't comment on these matters outside of formally announcing suspensions.
It's unclear how or if Gordon's recent arrest on DWI charges will factor in to his appeal. Prior to the arrest, there was some belief that Gordon's appeal could result in the NFL negotiating a suspension of less than a full season - perhaps eight games.
