Report: Vikings thought they had deal to trade up for Manziel
According to NFL insider Jay Glazer, the Cleveland Browns' trade with the Philadelphia Eagles for the 22nd overall pick, which they used to select quarterback Johnny Manziel, was a last-second play that thwarted the Minnesota Vikings.

There was initial speculation that the Browns would draft Manziel with the fourth overall pick, but they ended up trading it to the Buffalo Bills. They then passed on Manziel again at No. 8, drafting corner Justin Gilbert instead.
But seeing the Texas A&M quarterback still on the board at No. 22, the Browns smelled opportunity. They traded their 26th overall pick, plus their third-rounder (83rd overall), which apparently one-upped whatever offer the Vikings thought would be good enough.
