49ers HC Harbaugh: Frank Gore is a 'mystical man'

Week in and week out, San Francisco 49ers running back Frank Gore provides ample reason to marvel.

He's tough, underpaid, selfless, and truly the embodiment of the 49ers' brand.

But his coach, Jim Harbaugh, has another description of the five-time Pro Bowl runner:

"I think he's a mystical man," the 49ers' boss said of Gore when describing his superior vision to that of his peers.

Undoubtedly a compliment, Harbaugh's strange assessment is also lost on Gore.

"I don't know what that means," Gore said, via Mark Purdy of the San Jose Mercury. "I mean, I do see things happen on the field before some other people do. When I'm running, God blessed me with the ability to see the small spots that open up before maybe other people see them. Just knowing how it all comes together, when I'm pass protecting or whatever, I sometimes see things other people don't. Maybe that's it."

While the former Miami Hurricane isn't the flashiest, most boastful, and certainly not the first choice for an endorsement deal, the praises of his teammates indicate that no player is more vital to San Francisco's success.
