Report: Teams worried about Kaepernick's vegan diet

Colin Kaepernick remains unsigned, and now there's a new and even more bizarre explanation for why that's the case.

Teams are unconvinced the quarterback is fully committed to football and have concerns about his vegan diet, NBC Sports' Matt Maiocco reports.

Kaepernick revealed he is vegan before the 2016 season, though, and there's no evidence the dietary choice negatively affected his level of play in the slightest.

As former NFL lineman Stephen White points out, plenty of players in the NFL are vegan but don't talk about it publicly. Retired running back Arian Foster famously eschewed eating animal products and it didn't hurt his running ability in any discernible way, nor did it hinder him from signing with a team.

It's possible for an elite athlete like Kaepernick to get all the nutrition he needs from a vegan diet, which is arguably healthier than other common diets.

It remains unclear whether Kaepernick has been blacklisted by NFL teams for his political leanings and public protests.
