After 12 seasons split between the Dallas Cowboys and Denver Broncos, outside linebacker DeMarcus Ware has announced his retirement.

Ware had spent the last three seasons with the Broncos, winning a Super Bowl in 2015. However, Ware dealt with back issues the past two seasons, which led to his decision to call it a career.

The 34-year-old was drafted 11th overall by the Cowboys in 2005 and went on to set the franchise record in sacks (117) and forced fumbles (32) over nine seasons.

Throughout his potential Hall of Fame career, Ware made nine Pro Bowls, was named to the NFL 2000s All-Decade team, and won the NFC Defensive Player of the Year award in 2008. He retires as the eighth all-time leading sacker in NFL history with 138.5 tallies.
