Green Bay Packers director of football operations Eliot Wolf has pulled out of the San Francisco 49ers' search for a new general manager after receiving a new deal with his current club, reports Tom Pelissero of USA TODAY Sports.

Brian Gutekunst, Green Bay's director of college scouting, and Minnesota Vikings' assistant GM George Paton remain the leading candidates for the 49ers job.

The 49ers are reportedly planning to offer Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan their head coaching job once the Falcons season is over. He is expected meet with the 49ers for a second round of interviews with the GM candidates next week.

Wolf has been rumored as an expected successor to Packers GM Ted Thompson. His father, Ron Wolf, worked as an NFL executive from 1963-2001, serving as Packers GM for the last decade and being inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2015.
