Report: NFL salary cap expected to jump $10M in 2017

Rob Foldy / USA TODAY Sports

The NFL is expecting to inform teams this week that the 2017 salary cap is projected to jump to between $163 million and $165 million, league sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The jump would be in the $10 million range as the current cap number is $155.27 million. Precise figures for the new cap will not be determined until the new league year begins in March.

The league will announce the projected 2017 cap numbers at an NFL owners meeting this week in Dallas.
