Jimmy Johnson: Elliott bigger, stronger than Emmitt Smith

It hasn't taken long for Ezekiel Elliott to surpass pretty much every expectation placed on him in his rookie season.

Through just ten games, Dallas Cowboys former two-time Super Bowl-winning head coach Jimmy Johnson already ranks Elliott alongside one of his greatest players - all-time rushing leader Emmitt Smith.

When asked to compare the two talented Cowboys runners on Fox Sports' "Speak For Yourself" Wednesday, Johnson said Elliott already has an edge over the Hall of Famer in more than one category.

"Elliott's bigger, stronger, maybe even a step faster than Emmitt Smith," Johnson said. "But they're both very similar. I think, you know, Ezekiel Elliott is a more powerful runner. He runs over people. Both of 'em can make people miss, so you don't really get a big shot on 'em.

"But Elliott will take on tacklers, whereas, you know, Emmitt never did this."

Elliott has already surpassed Smith's rookie rushing total with his 1,102 yards and is on pace for 1,763 yards, a total that the all-time leading rusher only broke once in his 15-year career.
