Cowboys named NFL's most valuable team, Rams' stock skyrockets after move
Forbes released its annual valuations of NFL teams Wednesday, and the usual suspects can once again be found checking in at the top of the list.
Leading the way are the Dallas Cowboys at $4.2 billion, with the New England Patriots and New York Giants checking in at the next two spots.
Most notable about this year's rankings, however, are the updates to teams that have already moved and those seemingly on the cusp of solving their long-standing stadium issues.
Winning the Los Angeles sweepstakes and relocating to Southern California saw the Rams double their value to $2.9 billion, good for sixth league-wide. The Forbes report adds that the club could even soon approach the $4-billion mark depending on owner Stan Kroenke's $3-billion real estate project.
The Oakland Raiders and San Diego Chargers, candidates for either new local stadiums or relocation to Los Angeles or Las Vegas, jumped up the rankings after several years toward the bottom. Oakland is up 47 percent to $2.1 billion despite a league-worst $301-million revenue last year, while San Diego increased its value by 37 percent to $2.08 billion.
