The dynamic duo of quarterback Carson Palmer and receiver Larry Fitzgerald will continue to light up the desert for the foreseeable future.

The Arizona Cardinals announced one-year contract extensions to both Palmer and Fitzgerald on Friday.

Palmer's deal now runs through the 2018 season, while Fitzgerald is contracted through 2017.

"Clearly these are two core members of our team who have played major roles in our success," GM Steve Keim said in a statement. "Each of them had contracts that were due to expire in the next year or two so these extensions provide a measure of certainty and clarity for the players and organization, both now and in the years ahead. It also reaffirms our long-stated intention that when the time comes, these two great players end their stellar careers as Cardinals."

The quarterback's extension adds $24.5 million in new money over the next three seasons, while also handing Palmer $22.5 million in new guarantees, ESPN's Dan Graziano reports.

Fitzgerald's extra year is worth $11 million, the same as his base salary this season, and is guaranteed for injury, a source told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport,

Palmer enjoyed a resurgent 2015 season, showing no ill-effects of the torn ACL that ended his year in 2014. He threw a career-high 35 touchdowns and was a leading MVP candidate for much of the season.

Fitzgerald, too, appeared to turn back the clock in 2015, putting up his first 1,000-yard campaign since 2011.
