Cam Newton calls out woman with Broncos phone case at fundraiser

Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton was in the midst of answering questions at his celebrity kickball tournament Friday when something caught his eye.

Off to the side, a woman with a Denver Broncos cellphone case was snapping photos of him. Newton immediately stopped his interview to jokingly call out the woman for her offensive phone case.

The woman told Newton that she's lived in Charlotte for the past six years, but previously called Denver home for eight years.

"Six years. You're a Charlottean," Newton said. "As the quarterback of the Carolina Panthers, it hurts me deeply that you have a Denver Broncos cover on."

Here's how the rest of the conversation went, according to ESPN's David Newton:

Woman: "But I was there every time you guys had the ball rooting (during the Super Bowl)."

Newton: "No you wasn't."

Woman: "I was. So torn."

Newton was then interrupted by former Panthers teammate Josh Norman, who made fun of his headband.
