Broncos' Von Miller: Hits contractual snag

There is no deal in sight for Miller and the Broncos to reach a long-term deal despite Denver's six-year, $114.5 million offer, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Analysis:

Despite the team having until the middle of next month to come to an agreement with the star edge rusher, they curiously imposed a Tuesday deadline for negotiations. The deal is tricky because both sides feel as though they have leverage. Denver can say that it is paying Miller more than any defender in league history and can always fall back on slapping him with the franchise for the next three years for about $55 million total. Miller, on the other hand, was easily the team's best player in the AFC title game and Super Bowl 50 and is entering a market in which Olivier Vernon is making $17 million per year. At the end of the day, it is difficult to picture Miller in a color other than orange in the coming years as there is still time to make a deal and the Broncos have the franchise-tag fallback.
