Bears' Jeremy Langford: To lead running committee
Langford enters next week's OTAs as the Bears' projected starting running back, but the team is ultimately expected to deploy a committee rushing approach centered around whoever develops the hot hand in a given game, the Chicago Tribune reports.
Analysis:
Langford rushed for 537 yards and six touchdowns as a rookie last season, but his 3.6 yards per carry marks a concern as the Bears plan to replace long-time standout Matt Forte this year. While Langford, who also struggled after contact and had numerous drops, goes into OTAs as Chicago's first-string tailback, teammates Ka'Deem Carey, Jacquizz Rodgers and enticing rookie Jordan Horward are expected to push him for touches. In the end, coach John Fox says the team will divide the workload between Langford and company until someone gets in a rhythm, at which point that player will see the greatest involvement.
