McNabb no fan of Eagles' trade or QB draft prospects

The Philadelphia Eagles hold the second overall pick for the first time since drafting quarterback Donovan McNabb out of Syracuse in 1999.

With the Eagles expected to draft another quarterback after trading up to the spot, McNabb was asked to weigh in with his thoughts on the trade.

He is not a fan.

"I don’t like (the trade) because I think the Eagles need much more help than just a quarterback," McNabb told NBS Sports Newry Scruggs Show via USA Today. "Every coach that comes into the NFL wants to be tagged to their quarterback, but they just signed Sam Bradford pretty much to be a guy to hold it down for a year or two. Doug Pederson may not have his job in three years."

The former Eagle wishes Philadelphia would add pieces to the offensive line, secondary, and linebacker core. McNabb also isn't sold on the projected top two quarterbacks, Jared Goff and Carson Wentz.

"I don’t think these two quarterbacks are worthy of being the first or second picks. To me, they are mid to late round prospects," McNabb said. "Unless you tell me that Jared Goff is the next Aaron Rodgers, not because he went to Cal but because he can sit behind Sam Bradford, maybe that can work out. If Carson Wentz is a Ben Roethlisberger coming from a 1-AA school then maybe that can work out."

Obviously McNabb isn't a scout or a coach, nor does he have any front office experience, but he feels his six Pro Bowls over 13 NFL seasons gives him some insight into what a successful NFL quarterback looks like.

The Eagles haven't won a playoff game since McNabb was their starter.
