The Denver Broncos have kicked the tires on Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Sam Bradford, a source told Mike Klis of 9News.

The Broncos reached out after Bradford reportedly asked to be traded in light of the Eagles' impending selection of a quarterback with the second overall pick. Philadelphia traded up in the draft on Wednesday.

The Eagles' asking price is currently too high for the Broncos to consummate a trade, according to Klis.

The Eagles attempted to reassure Bradford later on Monday that he'd be the starter in 2016, but his agent Tom Condon publicly threw water on the idea of his client as a short-term option.

"Sam wants to play somewhere where he's going to stay for a long time if he plays well," Condon told SiriusXM NFL Radio on Monday evening. Condon added, "Sam wants to be the guy. He does not view himself as a stopgap quarterback."

The Broncos are still in the market for a starting quarterback after Peyton Manning's retirement and Brock Osweiler's move to the Houston Texans. For now, Mark Sanchez stands as the team's de facto starter.

Conflicting reports Monday morning suggested both that Bradford, demanding a trade, wouldn't show up to the Eagles' voluntary workouts and that he hadn't asked to be dealt and didn't plan to make such a request.
