Jared Goff confident he's the QB to turn the Rams' fortunes around

When the Los Angeles Rams turn in their card for the No. 1 overall pick in this year's draft on April 28, they'll be handing over the keys to the franchise to either Jared Goff or Carson Wentz.

Both quarterbacks are still believed to be in play to be the first player off the board, and if the pick is Goff, the former Cal standout believes he's the man to help return the Rams to winning ways.

"I'm just very confident in myself. I turned around Cal football - had a lot of help doing it, but I had a big role in it," Goff said, according to Myles Simmons of the Rams' official site. "I know it's a completely different level and a lot of different stuff going on, but I'm just very confident in myself and my abilities."

Goff is a California guy. He was born, raised, and played his entire collegiate career in the state, which makes him the ideal fit for the Rams' new home.

The 20-year-old certainly has the confidence that would fit right in with America's most star-studded city.

"I can be the franchise quarterback," Goff said. "I can be a guy who's the face of the franchise, a guy who can lead them to where they want to be - go to the playoffs, and to Super Bowls, and be very successful. I truly believe that about myself and that I can bring that to a team."

Goff is still fighting it out with Wentz for the right to be the Rams' franchise player, with the other likely headed to the Philadelphia Eagles at the second overall pick.

While no one knows for sure which quarterback the Rams covet, if it is Goff, he says he'll waste no time proving them right.

"I'm really excited for it," Goff said. "If that's the case, I'm ready to get to work and make them be proud of the decision they made, and know they made the right decision."
