NFL Game Summary - Houston at Tennessee

Nashville, TN (SportsNetwork.com) - Arian Foster finished with three total touchdowns to lead the Houston Texans to a 30-16 victory over the Tennessee Titans.

Foster rushed for 151 yards and two scores on 20 carries and added a receiving touchdown for the Texans (4-4), who snapped a three-game skid.

Ryan Fitzpatrick completed 19-of-35 passes for 227 yards and a touchdown, and DeAndre Hopkins had a game-high 95 receiving yards on five catches in the win.

"Arian just made some spectacular runs," said Fitzpatrick.

Titans rookie Zach Mettenberger threw for 299 yards and a pair of touchdowns with an interception on 27-of-41 efficiency in his first career start. Delanie Walker and Justin Hunter each caught a score for Tennessee (2-6), which dropped its second straight game heading into its bye week.

"I thought he played okay," Walker said of Mettenberger. "He's going to get better as he gets more comfortable as the starting quarterback."

Houston built a 13-3 halftime lead and extended it early in the third quarter, as Mettenberger fumbled on a sack from J.J. Watt and Tim Jamison jumped on the loose ball at the Titans' 20. Foster then had an 11-yard run, rushed four yards and hauled in a short 5-yard pass from Fitzpatrick to make it a 20-3 game.

Houston marched 98 yards down the field in 11 plays on its next drive, in which Foster rushed up the middle, juked two defenders and raced 43 yards down to the Titans' one. On the next play, Foster plunged into the end zone for his third touchdown of the day, giving the Texans a 27-3 lead with 5:42 remaining in the third.

On third down of the following drive, Mettenberger stepped up and hit Kendall Wright 48 yards over the middle to Houston's 28. Derek Hagan caught a 6-yard pass on fourth down and Mettenberger dumped a short toss to Walker on his right for his first career touchdown pass late in the third. The Titans' rushing attempt for a two-point conversion was stopped.

Randy Bullock split the uprights from 49 yards to give the Texans a 30-6 lead less than a minute into the fourth.

Mettenberger then aired a 43-yard pass to Nate Washington down the right sideline, but Watt sacked the rookie for a loss of four yards and batted down a pass on the next play before Washington's catch on fourth down was two yards short and the Texans took over at their own 10.

Dexter McCluster later took a short pass to the Houston 27 for a 23-yard gain, and Walker made a 15-yard catch before Justin Hunter raced into the end zone on a 12-yard catch to cap the scoring with 56 seconds to play.

On Tennessee's opening drive, McCluster returned Shane Lechler's punt 48 yards to Houston's 21. The Titans were unable to move the chains, however, and Ryan Succop started the scoring with a 35-yard field goal.

Houston responded with 27 straight points to seize control of the game.

After each team punted twice, the Texans put together a lengthy 13-play, 54- yard drive to tie the game midway through the second quarter. Damaris Johnson made a 15-yard catch and Hopkins' 13-yard grab pushed the Texans deep into Tennessee territory. Bullock ended the drive with a 30-yard field goal.

On Houston's next possession, Foster ran to his left, cut back to his right down the sideline and leaped over a diving defender into the end zone for a 34-yard touchdown to make it a 10-3 game with six minutes to play in the first half.

D.J. Swearinger jumped in front of Walker to pick off Mettenberger and returned it 25 yards to Tennessee's 48 ahead of the two-minute warning. Fitzpatrick hit Hopkins for a 23-yard gain down to the 2-yard line, leading to Bullock's 29-yard field goal that gave the Texans a 13-3 lead heading into halftime.
