Top 5 goals from MLS in Weeks 4-5

Reuters

It seemed like Weeks 4 and 5 of MLS action were filled with more red cards than goals, but there were still a number of pretty highlight-reel worthy strikes in this round of play.

Here are the five goals we rank best among the bunch from Weeks 4 and 5 of the 2016 MLS season:

5. Solignac feeds off Pappa's chips

It's as simple as a one-two-three goal for Colorado Rapids forward Luis Solignac, who smartly read a chipped overhead pass from Marco Pappa and beat the Toronto FC offside trap before controlling and placing his shot past Clint Irwin for the game-winning goal. Simple, smart football.

4. McNamara keeps his eye on the ball

Speaking of simple, smart football, New York City FC midfielder Tommy McNamara remembered full well one of the basic tenants of the game: You keep your eye on the ball and see the play through. It's why, when David Villa's shot hit the crossbar, McNamara was the first one there to head home the rebound to give his team a win over the New England Revolution.

3. Jahn pays homage to Eric Cantona

Arms up, cool as you like, San Jose Earthquakes forward Adam Jahn scored a last-minute equalizer against D.C. United, then did his best impression of Eric Cantona with his goal celebration (but just the celebration, the goal was much less impressive).

2. Mulholland scores from long range

You can't win the lotto if you don't buy a ticket, and Real Salt Lake's Luke Mulholland took a chance with this long-range shot through a crowd that ultimately paid off. It proved the game-winning goal over Sporting Kansas City, too.

1. Shea hits the sweet spot to curl it home

Orlando City winger Brek Shea could not have hit this ball any sweeter, teed up as it was by teammate Kaka from the left-hand side of the box. Shea smacked home this curling effort with an outside-the-foot shot.

Just perfect.
