Spurs set franchise record for wins in a season

By defeating the Toronto Raptors on Saturday night, the San Antonio Spurs have established a new franchise record with their 64th win of the season.

Even without their All-Star backcourt of Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozan, the Raptors put a scare into the Spurs, who needed big games from All-Star forwards Kawhi Leonard and LaMarcus Aldridge to set their franchise mark.

Saturday's victory surpassed San Antonio's 2005-06, 63-win campaign - a season that saw the Spurs bow out to the Dallas Mavericks in the Conference Finals.

With their franchise record out of the way, San Antonio will likely set their eyes on a perfect season at home to finish off a spectacular regular season. While the Spurs need just two victories to reach a 41-0 record at the AT&T Center, they must still beat the mighty Golden State Warriors and Oklahoma City Thunder to accomplish their goal.
