Jerry Jones calls link between CTE and football 'absurd'
NFL owners, front office staff, and coaches are in Boca Raton, Fla. this week to make decisions on rule and regulations for the upcoming season, but Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has a bigger topic on his mind.
Jones told reporters on Tuesday that it's "absurd" to say there's a relationship between CTE and playing football, according to Bart Hubbuch of the New York Post.
This statement comes days after New York Giants owner John Mara said the league isn't hiding from the issues of CTE and concussions.
The NFL's chief of security also admitted a week ago that there is a link between CTE and football. The league stood behind that statement.
Jones' comments are not in line with what the league has recently stated, but as one of the more powerful owners in the NFL, his opinion carries more weight than some others.
