2016 NFL Mock Draft: Projecting the first 3 rounds

It's almost that time.

After months of speculation, the NFL's grand offseason event is just about here.

Though the first two picks of the opening round appear to be set in stone, a class filled with more depth than top-tier talent will make for an eventful few days from that point forward.

Here are some final projections to get you set for the 2016 NFL Draft, this time tackling each of the first three rounds.

Picks
1-10 | 11-20 | 21-31
Round 2 | Round 3

1. Los Angeles Rams (via TEN) - Jared Goff, QB, Cal

The Rams land the potential franchise quarterback they moved up 14 spots to get. Goff is the more pro-ready of the consensus top signal-callers in this draft, and it would be no surprise to see him in the starting lineup for Week 1. Giving up those picks is worth it if he pans out.

2. Philadelphia Eagles (via CLE) - Carson Wentz, QB, North Dakota State

It's long been rumored that the Eagles' staff liked Wentz, and the move up to the second spot well in advance of the draft would appear to indicate an expectation that he'll still be on the board. Whether Sam Bradford sticks around, or Chase Daniel steps in, Philadelphia can be patient with Wentz early in his rookie year.

3. San Diego Chargers - DeForest Buckner, DL, Oregon

This is the first pick that could really go in any direction. With some money tied up on the offensive line and in the secondary, though, Buckner makes plenty of sense for the Chargers. The Oregon product is a perfect fit at the five-technique on San Diego's 3-4 front, providing a significant pass-rush upgrade on the interior.

4. Dallas Cowboys - Jalen Ramsey, CB, Florida State

Ramsey may be the only player that keeps Jerry Jones and Co. from taking Ezekiel Elliott at No. 4. Arguably the top prospect in this class overall, he'd be a difference-maker on the back end of a Cowboys team suddenly trending in the right direction.

5. Jacksonville Jaguars - Joey Bosa, DE, Ohio State

The healthy return of 2015 first-round pick Dante Fowler shouldn't stop Jacksonville from again addressing the defensive front this year. Bosa is an every-down presence that the coaching staff could move around with ease, either lining him up opposite Fowler or kicking inside for nickel packages.

6. Baltimore Ravens - Laremy Tunsil, OT, Ole Miss

Each of the three previous teams addressing the defensive side of the ball leaves Baltimore with an absolute gift at No. 6. Tunsil is another player who many will consider the best player available at any position, and he may well be the most complete left tackle prospect making the jump since Joe Thomas.

7. San Francisco 49ers - Ronnie Stanley, OT, Notre Dame

San Francisco passes on a quarterback in favor of a foundation piece on the offensive front. An incredibly strong pass-protector on the edge, Stanley projects as a long-term starter at left tackle. With Joe Staley in that spot for the time being, though, he could also start on the right side from day one.

8. Cleveland Browns (via PHI) - Paxton Lynch, QB, Memphis

Evidently not comfortable with the value in selecting one of the other two quarterbacks at No. 2, the Browns opted for a blockbuster trade in moving back. Lynch getting by the 49ers represents the perfect scenario, as Hue Jackson still gets his potential quarterback of the future, and management has several more draft picks to work with in upgrading the roster elsewhere.

9. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Shaq Lawson, DE, Clemson

Tampa Bay could use another edge-rusher up front, and Lawson is quite easily the best available at this point in the first round. His addition to the defensive front, working alongside Gerald McCoy and Robert Ayers, would help the defense take a considerable step forward under a new coaching staff.

10. New York Giants - Myles Jack, LB, UCLA

While there may be some teams that have concerns about the long-term health of Jack's knee, there comes a time when the value is too enticing to pass up. That's the case for the Giants here. New York complements a suddenly potent defensive front by addressing its longstanding need at linebacker.
