Illinois guard Kendrick Nunn has been charged with domestic battery following an incident in a woman's apartment Wednesday.

The junior standout was arrested by Champaign police after a judge issued a warrant earlier in the day.

"Neighbors call 911 to report a loud argument," First Assistant State's Attorney Steve Ziegler told reporters. "They hear a woman yelling, 'Get off me,' and a man yelling, 'Give me my money,'"

While no arrest was initially made, the woman later called police and explained the incident in detail. She also claimed the two have some sort of relationship other than a friendship.

"She said they were arguing about their relationship and whether or not she owed him money," Ziegler said. "At some point he did push her and strike her in the back of the head. During the physical part of the altercation is when Champaign police showed up."

Athletic director Josh Whitman and head coach John Groce responded swiftly to the arrest, suspending Nunn indefinitely.

"Kendrick Nunn has been suspended indefinitely from all team-related activities pending legal proceedings and an investigation into allegations of domestic battery," the two said in a joint statement. "Obviously, yesterday's event is the latest in a series of conduct issues involving our men's basketball team. We are working diligently to ensure that our men's basketball team is representative of the high ideals that we uphold in Illinois Athletics."

Nunn averaged 15.5 points and five rebounds per game on the season for the Illini, and his arrest marks the fourth for the basketball program since August.
