Warriors obliterate Knicks for 50th straight regular-season home win

Kelley L Cox / USA TODAY Sports

The Golden State Warriors continue to be unbeatable on their home floor, and they made astonishingly quick work of the New York Knicks at Oracle Arena on Wednesday night.

The Warriors got off to sluggish start, falling behind 4-0. They responded with a 7-0 run and never trailed again, blowing the Knicks off the court with a 121-85 win that took just two hours from buzzer to buzzer.

It was their 50th consecutive regular-season win at Oracle, leaving them alone atop the mountain of major North American pro sports.

The Warriors rained hellfire all night, hitting 18-of-37 from beyond the arc, and New York had nothing even resembling an answer. Steph Curry went for 34 points in just 28 minutes, faking out Knicks and camerapeople alike, and finding a way to break his opponents' backs even on the rare occasions he was well-defended.

All of which served as a stark reminder to Kristaps Porzingis and Co. that hitting warmup shots from the tunnel does not a Steph Curry make. Speaking of the Knicks rookie, he was completely neutralized by Draymond Green and finished with two points on 1-of-11 shooting, with a game-worst minus-24 rating.

All told, it was a pretty comfortable win for Golden State.

Golden State improved to 61-6 on the season, putting the Warriors a full four games up on the San Antonio Spurs. A 12-3 finish is all they need to secure the best record in history.
