Thursday's Winger Value Rankings
Here are theScore's winger value rankings for Thursday, March 17:
Top Options
Name | Opponent | Value |
---|---|---|
Filip Forsberg (NAS) | vs. NYI | 9 |
Jaromir Jagr (FLA) | at TOR | 9 |
Reilly Smith (FLA) | at TOR | 9 |
James Neal (NAS) | vs. NYI | 8 |
Jonathan Huberdeau (FLA) | at TOR | 8 |
Forsberg is your cash game option in Nashville while Neal is your tournament play. Teammate Craig Smith is a slightly lesser option though he represents a solid bargain.
Stack the Panthers against Toronto. None will kill your budget and they each have the odds in their favor to wind up on the score sheet. It won't matter whether it's Jonathan Bernier or Garret Sparks in net for the Leafs. Jagr, Smith and Huberdeau will be good to go in your lineup.
Best of the Rest
Name | Opponent | Value |
---|---|---|
Cam Atkinson (CLB) | vs. DET | 7 |
Ondrej Palat (TB) | at DAL | 7 |
Patric Hornqvist (PIT) | vs. CAR | 7 |
Craig Smith (NAS) | vs. NYI | 7 |
Nikita Kucherov (TB) | at DAL | 6 |
Tomas Tatar (DET) | at CLB | 6 |
Palat is the hottest winger in Tampa. He will either cost the same as Kucherov or a bit less. Either way, he's riding a solid streak and is worth consideration. Hornqvist is slightly pricey, but he's been consistent. He might not be worth the reach in a GPP, but he's earned a cash-game selection.
Name | Opponent | Value |
---|---|---|
Phil Kessel (PIT) | vs. CAR | 6 |
Kyle Okposo (NYI) | at NAS | 6 |
Tyler Toffoli (LA) | vs. NYR | 6 |
Jamie Benn (DAL) | vs. TB | 5 |
Mats Zuccarello (NYR) | at LA | 5 |
Tomas Hertl (SJ) | at ARI | 5 |
High price tags for Kessel and Benn raise trepidation. Benn has the higher ceiling, but the Tampa matchup isn't ideal. Toffoli, likewise, has a poor matchup, especially since Henrik Lundqvist did not start Wednesday and could be fresh. He has scored in back-to-back games. Zuccarello is a tournament-play option, he's sandwiched five points over two games between two point-less outings.
Nothing to See Here
Name | Opponent | Value |
---|---|---|
Jeff Skinner (CAR) | at PIT | 4 |
Brandon Saad (CLB) | vs. DET | 3 |
Zach Parise (MIN) | at NJ | 3 |
Rick Nash (NYR) | at LA | 2 |
Patrick Marleau (SJ) | at ARI | 1 |
The risk behind selecting Parise is not worth the likely payoff of somewhere between zero and one point on the night. Even against G Keith Kinkaid, he's not a worthwhile pick. Nash needs to string together successes before he's a worthy selection again.
