Report: Rutgers has reached out to Rhode Island's Danny Hurley

Rutgers reached out to Rhode Island officials Saturday to ask for permission to speak with head coach Dan Hurley about the Scarlet Knights' vacancy, sources told Pete Thamel of Sports Illustrated.
Hurley, a New Jersey native, has been rumored to be Rutgers' top candidate to replace Eddie Jordan, who was fired Thursday.
Hurley has spent the last four seasons with Rhode Island, following a two-year stint with Wagner. He has a 62-64 record with the Rams, including a 17-15 clip this season, though the team was hit hard by the injury bug.
If Rutgers isn't able to secure Hurley, it could turn its attention to George Washington head coach Mike Lonergan, who is also a target of the Knights, according to Thamel.
