Report: Eagles, Daniel agree to 3-year deal, $21 million deal

John Geliebter-USA TODAY Sports

The Philadelphia Eagles have agreed to a free-agent deal with quarterback Chase Daniel, according to Adam Schefter and Adam Caplan of ESPN.

Terms of the agreement have not yet been disclosed, but Daniel signed a three-year, $21-million contract, according to Eliot Shorr-Parks of NJ.com. Daniel will reportedly be guaranteed $12 million.

Given new head coach Doug Pederson's ties to Daniel, the Eagles were long considered the favorites to land his services on the open market.

Daniel will immediately step into Philadelphia's primary backup role and provide insurance behind Sam Bradford, presumably putting the team in position to part ways with Mark Sanchez.

The 29-year-old Daniel has shown flashes of ability in limited playing time now seven seasons into his pro career. He's completed 50-of-77 passes over his time with the Chiefs and New Orleans Saints, throwing for 464 yards, one touchdown, and one interception.
