Report: West Brom's Saido Berahino set to complete protracted Tottenham move

The fifth time is reportedly the charm when it comes to Tottenham Hotspur's pursuit of Saido Berahino.

According to David Hytner of the Guardian, Berahino is set to join Tottenham in the summer as West Bromwich Albion has agreed in principle that he can join the north London club.

After tallying 14 goals while appearing in all 38 of West Brom's Premier League fixtures last season, Berahino was the subject of four bids from Tottenham during last year's summer transfer window, all of which were rejected and the fourth of which was valued at £25 million. The constant rejection resulted in the English forward vowing on Twitter that he "will never play" for the Baggies, but the bad blood between the player and club has apparently cooled.

Berahino gave an interview to West Brom's official website in February, during which he claimed that his relationship with Jeremy Peace, the club's chairman, is improved, saying: "I get on really well with the chairman, so there is no problem there. I have always got on with the chairman.

"My tweet was something that I look back on and I really regret. I should never have said that. I am human. We all make mistakes and I hold my hand up and say it was a mistake for me. I just apologise to all the fans out there that have always supported me and the club that has always believed in me."

Berahino's contract expires in 2017.
