Robert Nkemdiche: I was drinking, not on drugs, when I fell out window

Former Ole Miss defensive lineman Robert Nkemdiche has arguably one of the highest ceilings among all players in the 2016 NFL Draft, but concerns over his character could ultimately doom his stock if he's unable to convince teams those issues are in the past.

Nkemdiche spoke to reporters Friday at the NFL combine and attempted to address some of the questions about his disposition and decision-making.

"I have changed," said Nkemdiche, who was charged with marijuana possession in December after an incident that involved him falling from a hotel room window.

Nkemdiche admitted he was drinking when the incident occurred, but vehemently denied he'd been using drugs.

"I made a mistake as a 21-year-old," he said. "I just have to keep moving forward."

Nkemdiche, who racked up 26 total tackles and three sacks in 2015, said the incident was "embarrassing" and completely out of character, adding he will do all he can to convince teams to take a chance on him.

Nkemdiche also said teammate Laremy Tunsil - a candidate to be taken with the first overall pick - was in the hotel room with him before the incident.

Not all the questions surrounding Nkemdiche are off the field, though, as many analysts have criticized him for a lack of effort on it.

Nkemdiche admitted to reporters he took plays off in college.

"There were times I didn't finish," Nkemdiche said. "Times I was lazy on some plays."
