Steelers noncommittal on Bell's availability for Week 1
The Pittsburgh Steelers don't know if they'll have star running back Le'Veon Bell on the field when they open the 2016 regular season in September.
General manager Kevin Colbert said Bell, who suffered significant injuries to his MCL and PCL on Nov. 1, won't have a timetable placed on him and will be allowed to heal at his own pace.
"We can't even say he'll be ready for the regular season because we won't know that until he goes through the whole process," Colbert said, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. "His health and his ability to return at 100 percent is the most important."
PCL injuries are tricky and can actually be more difficult to return from than ACL injuries.
The good news for the Steelers is they know they have a rock-solid backup in DeAngelo Williams. There's no need to rush Bell back before he's fully healthy.
