U.S. President Barack Obama knows what's up.

Obama welcomed the defending Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks to the White House on Wednesday, and, in a perfect world, he'd get a day with the "best trophy in sports." In fact, he knows exactly how he'd cap that day off.

"It's always fun to have the Stanley Cup here. By the way, we've got a state dinner with Canada coming up, so we might just leave it right in the middle of the room - to gloat a little bit," he said, according to Global News.

Canada hasn't celebrated a Stanley Cup winner since 1993, when the Montreal Canadiens won their 24th championship.

New Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, however, plans to bring some hardware of his own down to Washington.

Diplomacy. It's a beautiful thing.
