Mike Aviles will enter spring training with a cheery new glow, and not just because he landed a contract with the revamped Detroit Tigers, who look primed for a run at the AL Central title.

The 34-year-old infielder's daughter, Adriana, is cancer-free following a bone marrow transplant after being diagnosed with leukemia in May.

The Aviles family received a ton of support from around baseball during Adriana's battle last season, which included Aviles' former team, the Cleveland Indians, wearing new haircuts and the youngster throwing out the opening pitch at a game, along with twin sister Maiya.

Aviles agreed to a one-year deal with the Tigers in mid-December after spending the past three seasons with the Indians.
