Western Conference shatters record for most points in All-Star Game
The Western Conference nearly broke the scoreboard at the Air Canada Centre on Sunday night.
The West dropped 196 points to obliterate the previous record of 168 for most points scored by a team in the All-Star Game.
The ACC scoreboard only counts to 199, as revealed on the broadcast.
As for the game itself, an all-time high 3-point attempt rate, a sky-high pace in a game largely devoid of plodding centers, coupled with the usual anemia on defense by both teams, culminated in the highest scoring game of all time.
The East had 173 points of their own to bring the game's total to 369 points, which again, easily eclipsed the previous high-water mark of 321.
Furthermore, the Western Conference also set all-time highs in field-goals made (82), 3-point makes (31), and 3-point attempts (80).
Nine players for the West finished in double-figures, led by the game's MVP Russell Westbrook who had 31 in the win.
