Rondo not interested in joining Knicks: 'The triangle's not really a good look for me'

Don't expect Rajon Rondo in a New York Knicks uniform anytime soon.

The nine-year veteran is set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer, but says that the team's style of play may be the ultimate factor in his decision.

"(The) coach. And style of play. The biggest thing for me is the style of play," Rondo said to ESPN's Mike Mazzeo. "I wouldn't want to go to a system where I don't really have the ball in my hands and they have you stand in the corner and shoot 3s. That's not my style of play. … The style of play is the biggest thing, and then obviously personnel on the court and coaches."

Rondo has thrived throughout his career when he has been given freedom to control the pace of the offense, often setting up teammates for open shots following drives to the basket. However, that would likely not be the case with New York, where he would be tasked with running Derek Fisher and Phil Jackson's triangle offense instead.

"The triangle's not really a good look for me, I don't think," Rondo said.

The Knicks are in desperate need of a point guard as they have gotten inconsistent play out of current starter Jose Calderon this year. If Rondo is not the answer, New York would likely look at other top free agents or consider a trade.
