Sixteenth-seeded Bernard Tomic bested countryman John Millman in straight sets on Saturday, 6-4, 7-6 (7), 6-2, to advance to the fourth round for the second consecutive year in Melbourne.
Tomic reached the fourth round of the Australian Open in both 2012 and 2015.
Both players finished the match with 33 unforced errors, but it was Tomic's advantage of five service breaks to two for Millman that was the difference. The German-born Aussie also topped Millman in both first and second serve conversion percentage Saturday.
Tomic will now face second-seeded Scot Andy Murray, looking to advance to the quarterfinals of a Grand Slam for only the second time following a final eight appearance at Wimbledon in 2011.
