Flyers' Couturier nursing lower-body injury, out vs. Penguins

Eric Hartline / USA TODAY Sports

Philadelphia Flyers center Sean Couturier will not play Thursday night versus the Pittsburgh Penguins due to a lower-body injury.

Analysis:

It's an unfortunate turn of events for the Flyers as Couturier has been known to frustrate Evgeni Malkin and the Penguins with his agitating style of defense. Couturier is also above average when it comes to offense, having contributed nine goals and 13 assists in 38 games.

It's possible that center Jordan Weal, acquired from the Kings on Jan. 6, could take Couturier's spot in the lineup Thursday.
