Report: Cavaliers view Curry's champagne comments as 'disrespectful'

For the first time since hoisting the Larry O'Brien trophy following a Game 6 victory in the 2015 NBA Finals, reigning NBA MVP Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors return to Quicken Loans Arena to challenge LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday night.

Recent comments from "The Chef" concerning the game have added some extra fuel to the fire for this highly-anticipated regular season matchup.

"Obviously, walking in the locker room, it'll be good memories," Curry told the Bay Area News Group's Diamond Leung on Sunday. "Hopefully, it still smells a little bit like champagne."

Members of the Cavaliers got wind of Curry's remarks, and called his quote "disrespectful," according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer's Chris Haynes.

James was itching to offer his two cents on what Curry said following his team's shootaround Monday morning, and was wondering why no one from the media bothered to ask him about it since he apparently had a proper response, Haynes reported.

Golden State enters Monday's contest having lost two of their last three games, including a 113-98 beat-down at the hands of the Detroit Pistons on Saturday - the Warriors' worst loss over the past two seasons with Curry in uniform.

Cleveland, meanwhile, is 10-2 since guard Kyrie Irving made his return to the lineup following knee surgery to repair a fractured left kneecap.

When the Warriors and Cavaliers last met on Christmas Day in Oakland, it was Curry's crew who walked away with an 89-83 win.
