Flyers' White avoids supplemental discipline for blow on Jurco

Eric Hartline / USA TODAY Sports

Philadelphia Flyers forward Ryan White will avoid discipline and also have his match penalty rescinded after delivering a late hit to the blindside of Detroit Red Wings forward Tomas Jurco.

Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer was first to report the news.

White was ejected Sunday when he cut across the face of Jurco and drove his shoulder through the winger's chest after release of the puck.

By rule, the match penalty required the NHL's Department of Player Safety to review the infraction.

Jurco missed a handful of shifts, but did return to the game.

White has been suspended previously. He was handed a five-game ban when with the Montreal Canadiens in 2013 for a hit on Kent Huskins, then with the Flyers.
