Bo Horvat pounded his second goal of the game past goaltender Cam Ward to help the Vancouver Canucks spoil the Carolina Hurricanes' pursuit of five straight wins with a 3-2 overtime victory Friday.

Horvat one-timed a rocket past Ward to pick up his eighth goal of the season, giving him six goals and nine points in his last six games.

The loss halted the Hurricanes' current win streak at four games, but the point helped the club move into a tie with the Tampa Bay Lightning for the final wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference.

The Canucks, meanwhile, moved to within a point of the final wild-card spot in the West, improving to 4-2-1 in their past seven games.
