The New York Islanders' blue line has reportedly been dealt a significant blow.
Travis Hamonic will miss the next two-to-three weeks, according to Newsday's Arthur Staple.
The defenseman missed Saturday's loss to the Philadelphia Flyers with what the team called a lower-body injury, and he was considered day to day at the time.
Hamonic leads the Islanders with an average ice time of 23:48 over 41 games.
The 25-year-old confirmed in November that he requested a trade due to a family matter, and said the Islanders have been trying to accommodate him for some time.
