Oilers' Hendricks to have hearing after hit on Panthers' Ekblad
Sergei Belski-USA TODAY Sports
Edmonton Oilers forward Matt Hendricks will have a hearing with the NHL Department of Player Safety on Monday.
The hearing comes after Hendricks delivered a dangerous hit from behind to defenseman Aaron Ekblad during the third period of Sunday's 2-1 loss to the Florida Panthers. Hendricks was not penalized for the hit, but did receive a pair of fighting majors during the game.
Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reports Hendricks will have a phone hearing, meaning the infraction would result in, at most, a five-game suspension.
The 34-year-old has two goals and five assists in 33 games this season.
