While still a part of the Brooklyn Nets organization, Billy King's run as general manager of the team came to an end on Sunday after it was announced that he would be reassigned to a different, undisclosed role.

In a rather peculiar move, King will work closely with the team as an adviser to help find his replacement, according to Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski.

Considering owner Mikhail Prokhorov essentially fired him from his position, it seems odd that King would willingly cooperate in searching for his successor in the job he held since 2010.

King's laundry list of questionable moves runs a mile long, and while the Nets did dabble in some success during his tenure, it wasn't nearly enough to justify mortgaging the team's future to the degree he did.

Nets CEO Brett Yormark is expected to play a huge role in the search process, with Kentucky Wildcats head coach John Calipari - who coached the Nets for parts of three seasons when the franchise was in New Jersey - at the top of his list as a dual president and coach, reports Wojnarowski.
