Tom Brady doesn't drink coffee or eat tomatoes, chef reveals
Tom Brady is gearing up for another Super Bowl run, and will need to be well-fed if the New England Patriots are to repeat as champions.
Brady's chef, Allen Campbell, recently revealed what he cooks for the Patriots quarterback and his wife Gisele, in an interview with Hilary Sargent of Boston.com.
"So, 80 percent of what they eat is vegetables. (I buy) the freshest vegetables. If it’s not organic, I don't use it," Campbell said. "And whole grains: brown rice, quinoa, millet, beans. The other 20 percent is lean meats: grass-fed organic steak, duck every now and then, and chicken. As for fish, I mostly cook wild salmon."
Brady, still playing at an elite level despite approaching 40, doesn't touch white sugar or white flour, Campbell says. He also avoids peppers, mushrooms, tomatoes, and eggplants because they're apparently not anti-inflammatory.
Caffeine is also forbidden, as is dairy.
Not everyone believes Brady's diet is healthy, however. Men's Health reports that there's a lack of scientific evidence behind some of Brady's food restrictions, especially his avoidance of fruit, which it says may be more of a trend.
Whatever the case, it appears to be working out just fine for Brady.
