Balotelli's agent to discuss Liverpool future with Klopp

Mario Balotelli could yet have a future at Liverpool.

Balotelli's agent, Mino Raiola, told Sky Sports on Friday that he is planning to speak with Reds manager Jurgen Klopp about the player's prospects.

The 25-year-old is currently on a season-long loan at AC Milan, but the Italian club doesn't have an obligatory option to buy. The structure of the deal allows Balotelli to return to Liverpool if both parties so choose.

"Theoretically and by law, yes. He's owned by Liverpool so at the end of the season he should go back to Liverpool," said Raiola. "If Klopp has a plan for him or not, I don't know, I have not spoken to Klopp or Liverpool about this."

Raiola also confirmed that Balotelli had initially left the Merseyside club because former manager Brendan Rodgers no longer offered the striker an opportunity to develop.

"If we talk about the quality and talent Mario has, that is without question. Then you also need a manager that believes in you and gives you the chance to prove yourself," Raiola said.

Balotelli hasn't enjoyed many more chances at Milan this season. This time, though, it has nothing to do with his behaviour. A troublesome groin injury has limited Balotelli to just two league starts and two substitution appearances.

He could make his return to the matchday squad on Jan. 6 against Bologna.
