As Stephen Curry plays through a bruised left shin that, by his own admission, will take four weeks to heal, he's trying out some new equipment.

The Golden State Warriors' catalyst was spotted at shootaround Friday wearing a soccer-style shinguard, one he'll apparently wear later against the Portland Trail Blazers.

"There are a bunch of different options," Curry said, according to the San Francisco Chronicle's Rusty Simmons. "I'm just trying to find one that's not too heavy. I don't want to look like a football player out there with pads, but also, I want one that will protect me enough in case I do get kicked again."

"This is a new experience for me," Curry said, explaining he didn't really play the beautiful game growing up. "I think I'll have to bring out my Messi mindset tonight."

The Warriors are +523 when the reigning NBA MVP is on the floor this season, and -104 when he sits.
