Counterattack - Saturday's Top Contrarian Plays

Marc DesRosiers-USA TODAY Sports / Reuters / Reuters

Here are the top contrarian plays for Saturday's eight-game slate. Note: This excludes the 1 p.m. ET game between the Chicago Blackhawks and Buffalo Sabres as well as the 3 p.m. ET Calgary Flames and St. Louis Blues game.

C Mikko Koivu, Wild (at Predators)

Though Koivu centers the Wild's second line, he continues to record a vast amount of power-play time at the C position, maintaining his high floor.

He's averaging a point-per-game this season and is fresh off a two-goal performance against the Rangers and their team 2.41 GAA.

Even with seven points in two games, Koivu will still be faded in tournaments and the majority of cash games due to a tough matchup against a stout Predators defense. Roll him as a mid-tier C who will return feasible value while preserving his low-ownership percentage.

W Mikkel Boedker, Coyotes (vs. Islanders)

Coyotes C Martin Hanzal checks back into the lineup, which means Boedker has his set-up man back.

Surprisingly, Boedker has scored the most hat-tricks (3) among skaters this season and is proven to be a streaky sniper. He has tallied three points (2G, 1A) in as many games, and could be due for another big night.

D John Klingberg, Stars (vs. Canadiens)

The Stars' offensive defenseman has cooled off from his red-hot start, although he still ranks 13th among NHL skaters in points and second among defenseman.

He battles one of the best defenses in the NHL when Dallas takes the ice at the Bell Centre to take on the Canadiens and their superb blue line, however, his 31 points in 32 games can't be ignored.

He has an ample opportunity to prove himself as one of the league's best offensive defenseman and possess the upside and supporting cast to tally points in bundles on Saturday night. Pay up for him as your No. 1 D, due to his cheap price-tag.

G Jonathan Bernier, Leafs (vs. Kings)

Could Bernier pick up his first win since March against his former team? He present an intriguing play at G against a Kings team playing in the last game of their Eastern Conference road trip.

Los Angeles allows the least amount of goals per game while not posting elite scoring numbers, which present the possibility of a low-scoring bout. Bernier's starting job is on the line and taking a flier on him and his low-ownership percentage will allow DFSers to spend up elsewhere.
