Weidman walkout crew to include fan with cerebral palsy, cancer
UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman has a reputati as one of the nicest guys in the business, but he may have outdone himself this time.
On the eve of his UFC 194 title defense against Luke Rockhold, "The All-American" offered one special fan the chance to accompany him down to the Octagon.
Ian Matuszak, owner of a blue belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu from Longo-Weidman MMA, is currently in Las Vegas on an all expenses paid trip courtesy of Weidman and the UFC. The 20-year-old student and blogger was born with cerebral palsy and was recently diagnosed with stage 3 esophageal cancer.
The experience became all the more surreal when Weidman greeted Matuszak with a full package of Reebok apparel before inviting him to officially join his team on fight night.
Matuszak blurted out an expletive before expressing his gratitude to the champ.
