Report: Gus Poyet interested in Swansea City vacancy
Former Sunderland manager Gus Poyet could be set for a return to the Premier League, as the Uruguayan is eyeing the manager's job at Swansea City, BBC Sport reports.
Poyet is the bookmakers' favourite to take the Liberty Stadium hot seat despite only assuming a role in charge of AEK Athens in late October. He has since overseen three wins in the Superleague, leaving the club a whopping 13 points adrift of relentless leader Olympiacos.
Given that he only signed a one-year deal in the Greek capital, his exit would not require an overly significant compensation fee.
Manchester United assistant Ryan Giggs' name is still in the frame to oversee Swansea, with former Wales winger Mickey Thomas believing he's interested in the vacancy. The BBC thinks the other potential contenders have been ruled out.
According to other reports, chairman Huw Jenkins aims to name Garry Monk's successor before next week's meeting with West Ham.
