Buck Showalter wasn't able to guide the Baltimore Orioles to the playoffs in 2015, but a different Showalter gave Orioles owner Peter Angelos a reason to smile this weekend.

Decorated in Baltimore-familiar orange and black at the Laurel Park race track on Sunday, Showalter, a 2-year-old horse owned by Angelos with the same name as the Orioles' skipper, ran in its first career race, coming in first and earning $29,640.

Not only did Showalter come in first, but it also managed to beat out a horse by the name of "Yankee Tar," striking a coincidental connection between a race track and one of the toughest divisions in baseball in the American League East.
